Log In With Patreon

Sorry for the late evening update! It's still Wednesday here though ;D I had technical difficulties for the past few days.

I have good news though! I'm participating in the Smackjeeves-Patreon integration beta, and the Patreon login feature is available to everyone now! If you connect SJ and Patreon (which you can do by clicking the Patreon logo in the upper right corner), you'll see some extra content on this site. I kept things simple though, for BD you can see an "Extras" page in the menu that just collects all the comic-related art I've posted on Patreon.

I'm super excited for the Patreon and SJ intergration. Does it change anything on the artist end? Like do we have to code for it? Is it a toggle? Can we view it as our patreons view it to make sure it functions. Such questions. I might make a post about it in the forums.

@Arison: Early pages for patrons (which I am not doing) requires no coding. Setting custom pages to be accessible to patrons (which I am using) also requires no coding. These things are all handled from a Patreon management page.

The "Log in with patreon" button is added with a special template variable, but doesn't require anything more than copy+pasting the variable unless you want to customize it. Mine is custom.
There are also template switches for different tiers which are a bit messy to use, but they let you control your template and custom page content for different tiers. These switches are how my Patreon archive page displays wallpapers for all patrons, but thumbnails only for $5+ patrons.

The author sees all the patron-only content, as well as the "Log In with Patreon" button so they can customize it easily, even though logged in patrons don't see it. And to test how the page looks with all the patron-only content missing, one can log out of SJ or use a private/incognito window in the browser. There is currently no feature to allow authors to view the site as a particular tier, but the template switches for those work just like any other SJ template switches so they're hard to get wrong.

I hope that sates your curiosity!

You know, Alain didn't mention the most important prison survival advice-
