@Ddraigeneth: Perty trees are why I make comics 8D Thanks for your other comments, too.

This is the obligatory lovely background comment, seriously, this looks great! I know it's not supposed to be London but it looks London-ish. And nooo, looks like they already got their BIG UGLY GLASS-AND-STEEL STRUCTURE phase of architecture too, I was kind of hoping they would avoid that...

Do they have commieblocks as well? I'd love to see that! :D

@Oly-RRR: YESSSS gotta have the steel-and-glass monstrosities! Dunnin didn't have the shit bombed out of it so it retains a lot of its old buildings, but those things seem to pop up anyway! Fortunately the Lotus Building is one of only a few. At night you cannot grasp the true scale of its ugly, you cannot see its "petals" with the lights off. Let's just say the offices in those were meant to be the most elite, but they have the lowest lease costs now 8]

I'm glad you think it feels London-ish! I haven't been to London, so I based the skyline more on what I've seen in New York City, but arranged in a more organic, London-like way. And the Lotus is the bastard child of the Gherkin and One World Trade Center.

@eishiya: You know, after I finished reading it hit me that I'm not sure how much time passed between the chapters exactly! I mean we know some time passed but with the alternative history it's hard to say exactly. Though it is kind of obvious now that I think of it, it was just one of those "d'oh!" moments for me.

I think it's both the architecture and Dunnin police clearly based on British police (both in uniform and ranks) that makes the association obvious for me.

@Oly-RRR: I hope it's clear that enough time has passed, at least o:! The exact number of years doesn't matter, but I do have a goal for the time difference. And if it isn't yet clear, I hope it will be by chapter 4.

@eishiya: I think it is clear, it's just that with a 'real world' setting I'd firmly place that in the time line I already know and with alternative history I get niggling doubts of 'could their architecture change so much in less than a century?' - which is unlikely but could be a thing depending on the story? But don't worry, I know I overthink stuff like that.

@Oly-RRR: Aye, that makes sense! Architecturally, this setting isn't too far off from reality. If something looks like it was built 70 years ago in reality, it was probably built around 70 years ago in this setting. I opted to BS the architectural styles in this regard to make things read more clearly. If I went full-on alternative history mode, things would just be too confusing.
